Dusseldorf, Germany’s beautiful and cosmopolitan capital is located in the North Rhine-Westphalia state. The city is located on the east bank of the River Rhine and is part of the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan area. It hosts some of the largest fashion and trade fairs around the globe. It’s also a lively center for culture, the arts, and is well-known for its vibrant nightlife and annual celebrations. Dusseldorf is a city that welcomes millions of tourists every year. These great sights are just a few of the many things you can do while on vacation in this culturally rich city.


Altstadt, also known as Old Town, is a quarter-kilometre-wide area that’s brimming full of charming shops and bars. It is a bustling entertainment hub that transforms from a shopping centre to a vibrant entertainment district at night. Start the evening with dinner at one of the many fine restaurants, and try any of the Rhenish specialties the city is famous for. After enjoying a delicious meal, you can head to the “longest bar in the world” and grab a few bottles Altbier, Dusseldorf’s old-style dark beer.

St. Lambertus Basilika

Many beautiful churches are architectural marvels of the city. St. Lambertus Basilika, one of the oldest buildings in the city, was built in 1206. Its famous leaning roof is the most striking feature of this church. The church was struck by lightning 1815, causing it to catch fire and prompting the need to rebuild. The roof began to leak after workers used wet wood. The famously leaning roof was said to have been caused by the Devil’s fury.


The Schlossturm is the final remaining piece of Castle Dusseldorf. It has been converted into a museum of shipping about the River Rhine. The 360-degree views from the top make it worth the climb. Enjoy the view and grab a bite at the cafe before you start your journey.

Head over to Konigsallee for the city’s famous shopping district known as the “Champs Elysees of Germany”. This high-end shopping area offers an extensive selection of fashion shops. Make sure you take a stroll down the 1km long street to find sweet souvenirs for your loved ones.
